CustomBulk® division designs and builds a multitude of custom bulk containers for customers specific applications. One of our popular designs is the
barn door bulk container, which is custom designed and built to accommodate a variety of customers’ applications. Though our most common size has been the 45" x 48" x 50”, we can scale containers like this to fit any dimensions requested. Below are two such examples of specialized barn door containers, each fitting to customer specifications.
Storage for athletic/arena flooring tiles
A customer came to us requesting a container to store large athletic/arena flooring tiles. The tiles were too large for a standard bulk container. The tiles are cut in a unique interlocking pattern and need to be stacked separately to avoid the tiles being mixed up. A 90" x 48" x 50" bulk container with a split middle section was created to accommodate the tile's size.

90” x 48” footprint
is a long-time custom container offering from RPP Containers, made from two smaller 45” x 48” containers fabricated together. These containers are forklift accessible from both their short and long sides and stackable with each other. They are designed as a long-term, heavy-duty shipping and storage solution.
Custom Barn Door access points and dunnage
From the 90" x 48" x 50" collapsible bulk container base design, we add a fixed divider wall in the center made from 9mm corrugated plastic material. This puncture-resistant wall will not add much weight to the container and can be removable if needed. We rate this container for 1000 lbs. while stacking them two high. This rating is accomplished with metal reinforcement and supporting material that allows the box to retain its shape during the stresses of shipping. The lid for this container can be fixed in place to add additional rigidity or be left removable with its default design. This design is ideal for anyone looking to store or ship large parts that need to be separated. A key feature of this custom barn door container is the dual set of steel barn doors that allow you to unload and load from both 48" sides of the container.

A customer came to us with the need to transport and distribute individually packaged items. The size requirement for this project was the standard footprint of
45" x 48"
with an extended height of 81".
A staple in the industry, the 45” x 48” footprint is the most popular base we sell and our most common size request for custom projects. This is due to the way this size fills out a 53’ trailer while in transit and how many units exist in warehouses today.

This extra tall container was designed to be loaded from the top and unloaded from the bottom. The barn door is only partially integrated into the sidewall. Inside, you will find a ramp that pushes the contents of the container forward to the unloading access point. Features like the slick ramp surface and smooth interior walls ensure that packages do not get snagged or damaged during transit and unloading. The steel doors serve as a heavy-duty long-term access point. Overall, this is the perfect container for anyone looking to scale up their small package distribution beyond the limited function of cardboard gaylords.
